The Last 1950's Bowling Alley in Town
Over the past 30 years, many of the older bowling alleys have either gone out of business or updated themselves to the more trendy "cosmic bowling" style. One holdout is Grove City Lanes, a tiny neighborhood establishment in the heart of this sleepy Columbus suburb.
Not only is this little eight-lane alley very intimate, but it boasts vintage equipment. The lanes are genuine wood and not synthetic laminate. The ball returns are over-the-floor Brunswick Gold Crown models dating from the early 'sixties. This is retro cool at its finest.
Also, Grove City Lanes offers 1950's-inspired live music on Monday evenings with local rockabilly and roots-rock performer Jimmy Razor. There is something about hearing Eddie Cochran and Carl Perkins covers in a 1950's bowling alley that is pure lowbrow joy.
